Game Features
blade – Nittaku GORIKI
Modern defenders, in particular, are constantly switching between defence and their own offense. This calls for a blade that can reliably handle hard topspins without appearing unstable during blocks or counterattacks.
The GORIKI conveys exactly that feeling. Despite being classified as an offensive shoe, it feels surprisingly controlled and provides a high level of feedback upon ball contact. Its comparatively heavy weight also ensures a great deal of stability, especially when the opponent is playing at a fast pace.
As a result, blocks, counter-shots, and well-placed counterattacks often feel more controlled. Instead of just deflecting the ball, you can deliberately direct it and shape the rally yourself.
Paddle – Nittaku FASTARC G-1
After a successful defence, the first attack often determines who will take control of the rally.
Many modern offensive rubbers generate a pronounced catapult effect, which can make it particularly difficult to anticipate the first topspin shot following a defensive movement.
The FASTARC G-1 offers a significantly more direct feel. Its grippy surface makes it easier to execute topspins with plenty of spin, while the slightly higher trajectory provides added confidence on the first attack. At the same time, the feel of the racket remains highly predictable even at higher speeds.
If you want to take the initiative after a successful defensive play, this rubber will help you play your first shot with more confidence.
Backhand – Nittaku DO Knuckle
In this bundle, the backhand is meant not only to cover for the forehand but also to apply pressure on its own.
The DO Knuckle is designed to support exactly this style of play. As a short-pimpled rubber, it makes it easier to execute flat blocks, direct counterattacks, and fast shots. At the same time, it is less susceptible to the opponent’s spin than many smooth rubbers.
This allows you to change the pace of the rally and force your opponent to make mistakes more often, rather than just reacting to their next attack.
Who is this material intended for?
This combination is designed for modern defenders who don't want to score points solely through defence.
If you regularly alternate between backhand defence, blocks, forehand topspin, and smashes, these three elements complement each other effectively.
The GORIKI provides stability during fast rallies. The FASTARC G-1 helps ensure powerful offensive shots after a defence, while the DO Knuckle on the backhand enables active blocking and counterplay.
Who is this not really suitable for?
If your game consists almost exclusively of classic block-and-return play using long pimples, there are combinations that are better suited to this playing style.
Players who prefer a particularly lightweight material or a pronounced catapult effect will likely find this combination less comfortable. If you have joint problems, this material will be too heavy for you.
What sponge thickness should you choose?
With the FASTARC G-1, the sponge thickness primarily affects the balance between control and power.
Recommendation: Forehand
- 2.0 mm, if you regularly attack with topspin and smashes and want to generate a little more speed at the end of the shot.
- 1.8 mm, if you prefer a more controlled feel on your first stroke.
The following applies to the DO Knuckle:
More sponge makes it easier to hit active shots and counterattacks. Thinner versions usually offer a bit more control when blocking.
