Recommended equipment for offensive players who want to apply relentless pressure

If you want to build your game around speed, early topspins, and powerful shots, you need a rubber that remains stable at high speeds and responds precisely even under pressure. This rubber recommendation combines the fast GYO-EN with the high-spin GENEXTION V2C on the forehand and the direct HAMMOND Z2 on the backhand—for an offensive game with high penetrating power.

This bundle includes:

• Blade: GYO-EN
• Forehand Rubber: GENEXTION V2C
• Backhand rubber: HAMMOND Z2

This material is a good fit for you if you:

✅ you build your game around fast topspins and direct attacking shots
✅ you want to hit the ball early and keep your opponent under constant pressure
✅ you can actively accelerate hard rubbers and have a clean technique
✅ you value a ball trajectory that’s as linear and predictable as possible, even at high speeds
✅ you actively block on your backhand, counter-attack, and take the initiative yourself

This might not be the right fit for you if:

❌ you're still a beginner
❌ you prefer a soft, powerful feel
❌ you want to make up for mistakes with control rather than technique
❌ your technique isn't quite there yet

Game Features

Blade: GYO-EN

If your current offensive blade feels a little too soft during fast rallies and you're still lacking a bit of speed on your backhand, that's often the deciding factor. Especially against strong opponents, you need to apply a certain amount of pressure to score the point.

The GYO-EN ensures that you can build up exactly this kind of pressure. The 5-ply blade features two outer KVC3 fibres, giving it a firm feel at impact. This results in a flat, direct trajectory with high stability—even as speed increases. At the same time, the blade remains surprisingly easy to control in the short game.

At the table, this means you can follow through on your attacks consistently and play the ball actively with a lot of power, especially on fast topspins, counterattacks, and smashes.

Forehand Rubber: GENEXTION V2C

If you want to not only open the rally with a solid topspin but also put your opponent under immediate pressure, the GENEXTION V2C works very well with the GYO-EN on the forehand. You may be familiar with the problem that very fast rubbers can feel erratic in close-range play or are difficult to read when your opponent applies spin.

In such cases, it’s often not speed that’s lacking, but rather confidence and trust in how the rubber will respond.

The GENEXTION V2C has a slightly sticky surface and a hard sponge, but it plays surprisingly linearly. This allows you to carry the ball for what feels like a longer time, generate a lot of spin, and better gauge the ball’s bounce at the same time. At the same time, the rubber feels slightly more controlled and has less catapult effect than its counterpart, the GENEXTION.

This is especially helpful in serve-and-return play, when hitting the first topspin against backspin, and when executing aggressive counter-topspins near the table. You can play offensively without feeling like you’re constantly fighting against your equipment.

Backhand rubber: HAMMOND Z2

If you want to do more than just block reliably on your backhand—if you want to actively apply pressure—you need a rubber that stays precise even during fast movements.

Many very dynamic rubbers generate a strong catapult effect, which can make blocks or counterattacks erratic and lead to unnecessary errors.

The HAMMOND Z2 combines a firm, compact sponge with a grippy surface and offers a very linear feel. This makes the ball’s trajectory easy to predict even at high speeds, and the ball doesn’t slip off the racket as easily. It supports both powerful blocks and aggressive backhand topspins from mid-court.

Especially when you want to actively use your backhand, this rubber provides a lot of confidence and control during fast rallies.

Who is this combination of materials suitable for?

This bundle is particularly well-suited for ambitious offensive players with solid technique who build their game around speed, early initiative, and powerful attacking shots. If you like to apply the initial pressure yourself and use your backhand not only for defence but also as an offensive weapon, this combination works very well together.

The slightly sticky forehand facilitates spin-heavy opening shots, while the direct backhand makes it easier to follow up quickly. The GYO-EN provides a stable foundation for a consistently offensive style of play.

Who is this not really suitable for?

This equipment recommendation is definitely not suitable for beginners. If you're still working on your technique or want to build your game primarily around consistency and avoiding mistakes, this bundle will likely be too challenging for you. In that case, you should take a closer look at the OFF Bundle 01 or OFF Bundle 02.

Even players looking for a soft feel, plenty of power, or maximum forgiveness are unlikely to be satisfied with this combination in the long run. Hard rubbers, in particular, require active acceleration and precise technique.

What sponge thickness should I choose?

The thicker the sponge, the more speed, spin, and power the rubber generates. At the same time, its error tolerance decreases slightly.

Recommendation:

• 2.0 mm on both sides: If you're already a confident offensive player and want to take full advantage of the speed of this combination.
• 1.8 mm on both sides: If you play offensively but prefer a little more control and a greater margin of safety.
• Combination: Many players benefit from using GENEXTION V2C ( 2.0 mm) on their forehand and HAMMOND Z2 (1.8 mm) on their backhand. This ensures that the forehand remains as powerful as possible, while the backhand offers a bit more stability on blocks and quick counterattacks.

Conclusion

This bundle is designed for offensive players who want to consciously play a fast, direct, and powerful game. It rewards an active playing style with a very straight ball trajectory, high stability, and plenty of power. Players who want to consistently build their game around the first attack and quick follow-up actions will find a combination of equipment here that supports exactly this style of play—but it also requires a correspondingly solid stroke technique.
