The Nittaku S-7 is a 7-ply solid blade that is deliberately positioned between the S-5 and the S-CZ. It is aimed at players who are looking for the natural feel of a solid blade but want more speed and directness than a classic all-round blade.
In contrast to the S-5, which is made entirely of spruce, the S-7 has a differentiated veneer structure:
The core veneer and the second intermediate layer are made of ayous, while the first intermediate layer and the top veneer are made of spruce. This combination makes the blade noticeably faster and somewhat harder than the S-5, without losing the pleasant feel of the ball.
The speed of the S-7 is similar to that of the S-CZ, but it feels very different in play. As a pure solid wood without synthetic fibers, it offers longer ball contact, more natural feedback and very honest feedback on every shot. While the S-CZ is stabilized by the carbon fleece, the dynamics of the S-7 come solely from the blade construction.
In play, the S-7 convinces with a clear, soft touch, a moderate catapult and a lot of control in topspin. Rotation is easy to generate, both close to the table and from half distance. The blade remains stable without appearing hard or lifeless - ideal for players who actively attack but consciously play with feeling.
